For the last six years, the Grand America Annual Holiday Window Stroll has become a meaningful and fun holiday tradition in Utah, especially for local families.
Each year, this Salt Lake City hotel fills its inside windows with merriment, winter characters, glistening lights and festive colors. The first year only two windows were decorated. But every year since, the holiday window displays have gotten better and attracted more visitors, so now 16 windows are decorated.
An amazing local artist, Jonnie Hartman, does her magic and really makes these holiday displays come to life.
On our end, we produce all the graphics, using a mix of materials, including window vinyl to create the frames, gatorboard for most of the structures and fabric for some for some of the backgrounds. Hartman then comes in and adds all the finishing touches and turns flat sketches into amazing 3D displays. Using her creativity and artistic skills, along with ribbon, pounds of glitter and other elements, Hartman breathes life and cheer into each window display.
This year the theme is Christmas Around the World. The various displays highlight holiday scenes from different parts of the world, and Merry Christmas is even written in each native language.
You’ll also notice a special penguin in each display. As you walk around the world seeing each display, this cute little mascot takes a magical train ride to all the different countries with you.
We’re honored to have been able to help create these festively fun displays. And we hope that you’ll start a new tradition with your family this year that really captures the imagination and magic of the holiday season. So grab your family and come to the Grand America to see how Scotland, Portugal, Australia and others celebrate this special time of year.
