Sportsperson of the Year is a big event for Sports Illustrated. Presented annually since 1954, the award is given to the athlete, team or coach who has gone above and beyond in their sport, on or off the field.
2017 was a special year, as two honorees were named. J.J. Watt, a football player for the Houston Texans, and Jose Altuve, the Houston Astros second baseman, were selected for their humanitarian efforts in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. The athletes raised money, rallied the community, and showed support for Houston. This, combined with some fantastic athleticism on the field, showed that these two men genuinely emulated sportsmanship.
To celebrate, Sports Illustrated hosted an event that included A-list attendees, delicious food, speeches and a celebratory atmosphere. To accentuate the event, Ferrari Color produced pole wraps, table and bar dividers, wall graphics, a legacy background and tabletop displays for one of the night’s sponsors, Jack Links. The sharp, beautifully crafted graphics added to the event and highlighted the Sports Illustrated Sportspersons of the Year.
The Legacy Background was constructed with Celtec Fabric attached to a pop-up frame with Velcro. The lightweight fabric was stretched tight to create a backdrop for photo-ops and red carpet moments.
The large wall graphics were printed on PhotoTex, displaying high-quality photos with crisp lines and vivid color.
For the pole wraps, we used a power stretch fabric with a zipper. This made installation and removal quick and easy.
Table and bar dividers were used to give separation to the room while maintaining the look and feel of the event. 3M 3552C Vinyl with a matte laminated finish, gave the graphics a smooth, professional look.
Jack Links showed their support with their logo printed on a ¼” Maple Veneer for the upright sign and ¾” Maple Veneer for the base.
